Ford Flex Official Car of NHRA Motorcraft / Quick Lane Team
Tasca makes the crossover to Flex
09-16-08: If you have ever been to an NHRA race event, you have seen the “Official Vehicles” of all the teams waiting behind the starting line and shuttling the crew back and forth. Ford racing teams have traditionally used the Ford Expedition as it is large enough inside for the drivers and crew, but also powerful enough to tow a funny car about the grounds.
Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft / Quick Lane team have changed to the new Ford Flex as their official vehicle. This is of course an important placement of the vehicle, no different from having it star in a movie. In fact there is an argument that having the Flex shuttling about NHRA events could pay off even better so.
"Having the Motorcraft and Quick Lane team use the new Ford Flex as its tow vehicle is exciting for us," said Al Giombetti, executive director, Ford Customer Service Division. "This allows us to put the Flex in front of the thousands of fans who come to the races each weekend. A lot of families come to the races, and for them, the Ford Flex is the perfect vehicle to get safely to and from the track."
Debuting last weekend at the inaugural drag race in Charlotte, N.C., the Flex received a lot of attention from spectators and rave reviews from the Motorcraft / Quick Lane crewmembers.
"Our team needs a lot of space to be able to get our job done, and the Ford Flex really gives us the space and comfort that we need in a travel vehicle," said Bob Tasca III, team owner and driver, Tasca Racing. "The crew travels all across the country, so to have a safe vehicle with some really great features for them is really satisfying."
The team's new crossover is a six-passenger black Ford Flex with all the options and team graphics. Ford says it features SYNC, a refrigerated console, reverse camera system and their highly touted next-generation navigation with SIRIUS Travel Link.
What we’d really like to see is how it does in the quarter mile.
