11-24-08: The 2010 Mustang has finally been revealed to the world to great fanfare. While the Mustang enthusiasts were busy taking peeks at spy photos and reading the latest rumors, the people at Maisto toys were busy on the tooling for the 2010 Mustang GT diecast models.
That’s right, just as the 2010 Mustang made its debut, the new Maisto 1:18 scale diecast models made theirs. They went on sale this week in both a Torch Red and Sunset Gold Metallic GT Convertible. The new models from Maisto are of high detail and are well made. Best of all the new 2010 Mustang diecasts are priced right at about $29.

The hood, doors and trunk open to reveal well detailed interior and engine compartment. Even the new “Cold Air Intake” design and standard strut tower brace is visible under the hood. Nice touches like separate seat belts, red belt latches and printed gauges add realism you don’t normally expect in a model of this price range.
Real soft rubber tires and workable steering are part of the deal. Turn it upside down and you see a separate exhaust system with dual chrome tips too. While there will surely be other models down the road, Maisto gets kudos for being first to the punch.
