02-10-09: Ford rolls out their new 2010 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 this week, blessing the latest new F-150 with the classic biker leathers. This marks the 14th Harley-Davidson edition since 2000.
Upgrades to the F-150 begin with a special bold front fascia and six-bar shaped billet style grille. Very expensive looking forged aluminum Harley-Davidson badges and special graphics set the look. The truck will have a lowered appearance, but a visual trick only as the result of a fully integrated set of deployable running boards.
Luckily, the fat and beefy 22-inch wheels and tires fill the wheel-wells and leave the overall stance of the truck looking pretty tight. The paint colors available include Tuxedo Black and a new color called Lava. It is a deep maroon with three-color metal flake, taking place of the purple shade of recent years past.
The interior is really where Ford seems to have spent some of dollars and it wears well. Full custom leather seating and accents fflow through the already up-market interior of the F-150. Hand-made cloisonné badges adorn the seat-backs and console, which also has a limited-edition serialization plate.
“These handmade badges continue our theme of premium Harley-Davidson offerings,” said Patrick Schiavone, Design director. “Probably the only place that most people have seen hand-made cloisonné is on premium Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It’s really high craftsmanship, and people will recognize it as another connection between the two brands.”
The 2010 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 comes with the 5.4-liter three-valve engine rated at 320 horsepower and 390 ft.-lbs. of torque. That motor is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with a sport-tuned exhaust. No word yet on when and if a more powerful version sporting a supercharger or the new 6.2 liter big-block will be available.
The truck is available with 4x2 or an optional all-wheel drive, which features settings of 4x2, AWD and 4x4 high, unique to the Harley-Davidson edition on the F-150 platform. All 2010 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 models will be SuperCrews.
