01-11-09: The 2010 Ford Shelby GT-500 made its official debut today at the Detroit Auto Show. The Ford press conference was attended by the world automotive media as well as a full house of Ford employees. In attendance were Ford CEO Alan Mullally, Ford President of the Americas Mark Fields, Bill Ford Jr, and of course Carroll Shelby.
Two GT-500 roared into the Cobo Arena and came to a stop before the stage. Carroll Shelby emerged from the red and white coupe and was warmly greeted by an applauding crowd. It was of course a special day for Carroll as it was hi 86th birthday. He had celebrated earlier in the week out at the Shelby Bash in Las Vegas, but came in today for this special occasion.
After a few words, the Shelby Mustangs fired up and filled the arena with their exhaust note with a few revs and burned rubber out of the building. Nice.
