2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang winning accolades

Now that the new 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustang is at dealer lots and in the hands of the media, it’s been winning accolades from all directions.

The new naturally aspirated 5.2 liter Voodoo V8 with its 526 horsepower has been winning the hearts of Mustang enthusiasts and journalists alike with its high-revving power and eardrum piercing sound.

This was one of the factors with Car and Driver magazine has naming it to their 2016 10Best list, the 10th time a Mustang has been on the list.

And they aren’t alone. The 2016 AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Car of the Year award also went to GT350 Mustang. This makes it the the second year in a row that a Mustang variant won.

Mike Schlee, AutoGuide.com road test editor, says “driving Shelby GT350 is akin to a religious experience”.

The Hispanic Motor Press Awards Best Cars of 2016 also recognized the new Shelby GT350 Mustang this year for their round of honors.

The 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 starts with an MSRP of $47,795 which makes it a relative bargain when compared to many would-be peers – most of which come from Europe and Japan with much higher price tags.

A quick online search however for current dealer inventories shows that many Ford stores are commanding $10,000-$20,000 on top of MSRP minimum for the new Shelby GT350, and in some cases even more.

Production is limited at least for the 2015 and 2016 model years. What will come for the 2017 model year is yet unknown.

What is clear however is that Ford has won the hearts of the finicky and nit-picky journalists of the automotive realm. And that, isn’t always an easy task.
