2018 Mustang supercharger nets 700 horsepower

The partnership continues between Roush Performance and Ford Performance as the latest supercharger system for the 2018 Ford Mustang has been unveiled this week at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturer’s Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.

The all-new supercharger design will be released for the 2018 Mustang GT 5.0 V8 as well as the 2018 Ford F-150 5.0 V8. In Mustang trim, the system will bump output to 700 horsepower and 610 pound-feet of torque. For F-150, the supercharger raises spec to 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque.

Specially designed and developed by Roush Performance, the new supercharger system is unique from past offerings in that it has a front located inlet for a single throat throttle body. This enables easier packaging for the revised for 2018 5.0 liter V8 which now features direct and port fuel injection.

With up to 12 psi of boost, the new Roush / Ford Performance supercharger system will be offered for
2018 Ford Mustang GT with either the six-speed manual or the new 10-speed automatic transmission, the 2018 F-150 with its 10-speed automatic.

The kit will be 50-state smog legal and include all necessary installation hardware and performance calibration including a high flow air-to-water intercooler system. When installed by your approved Ford or Roush dealer it does not void your factory warranty and includes its own limited warranty.

“Ford and Roush have teamed up on performance for years on and off the track,” said Doug White, Global Ford Performance Parts Manager. “This new supercharger is another great example of our innovation in performance, greatly improving horsepower and torque so people can enjoy two of our most iconic vehicles even more.”

“Our teams collaborated to create the most highly engineered, tested and performing supercharger kit on the market,” said Jack Roush, chairman, board of directors, Roush Performance. “The combination of the 2018 5.0-liter engine and our all-new, fully integrated 2650 supercharger system yields simply incredible, no-compromise performance.”

The new Ford Performance supercharger kit will be available in early 2018 through Ford dealers, Ford Performance Warehouse Distributors and Roush Performance dealers. Additional information can be found at FordPerformanceParts.com.
