SEMA 2007: Rich Evans Designs "Hardcore Knight"

Staff Report

So-Cal Designer Creates Dark Horse

11-01-07: We had a chance to meet the creator of the Hardcore Knight briefly at the show. Rich Evans is quiet and reserved with a steely eye for detail. A long time seasoned artist in the custom car world of Southern California, his latest creation is definitely something to stop and spend some time to look at.

Whether this dark horse is your style or not, one thing that can’t be overstated is that it’s not just another Mustang. Honestly we sometimes tire of the endless train of retroviral tributes to the 1960’s. This thing is about today. The Hardcore Knight lives breaths in the same strata of medieval tattoos, spiked collars and 1000 watts of White Zombie.

The flat black body work is the backdrop for wicked assortment of spikes and machined hardware. From the custom designed Rich Evans spiked wheels to the machine gun exhaust outlets this thing stands apart from anything you have seen. The custom bodywork details have an organic quality to them reminiscent of the BatMobile movie cars. In fact, this thing would have been right at home in the movie.

Inside, the level of detail is high with creative billet accouterments throughout. The steering wheel, dash vents, headliner and seats have been pierced and set up with billet jewelry. Custom floor mats finish the scene that is otherwise understated and austere. In the end, this car is one wild ride that really grabbed our attention.

Rich Evans Designs operates out of the medieval themed 13,000 square foot Huntington Beach Bodyworks, a custom auto shop located just south of Los Angeles, California. www.RichEvansDesigns.com
