| 01/11/08: Our favorite big-top event is coming once more. Barrett-Jackson is like an old freind that comes to visit at the beginning of each new year, kick starting the automotive carnival ride into high gear. For 2008, the spirit is high as event promoters promise an even bigger cavalcade of cars and stars than in years past.
The circus that is the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction has grown to be the wildest animal of the auto enthusiast jungle. The sheer gravity and energy of this event is growing more powerful each year, fast becoming the center of the universe relative to car collecting. Fortunes are made and lost, custom building and restoration trends are benchmarked, fads made and dispensed of. It's here where the weather is set for the rest of the year both coming down on what is hot and what is not.
This year is marked again with another new production Shelby Mustang on the block, the 2008 Shelby GT-500 KR, Carroll's own 1969 Shelby Mustang and many others. Proceeds of the sale will go to the Carroll Shelby Children's Fund and will undoubtedly set a record. Round and round she goes, where she stops nobody knows.
