Mustangs Across America 45th Road Trip Hits 400 Cars

Cross-country trek to celebrate Mustang's birthday grows.
01-04-09: The Mustangs Across America 45th Anniversary Drive planned for April has reached a record milestone of over 400 cars registered to participate. The cross country drive will make a five-day trek starting at Shelby Automobiles in Las Vegas, NV and will end in Birmingham, Alabama to attend Mustang Club of America’s 45th Mustang Anniversary Bash.
The road trip event has garnered participants from almost every state in the Union, province of Canada and nearly a dozen foreign countries. Those include nearly 100 participants from Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, New Zealand, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, The Netherlands, and the UK.
Because of the overwhelming numbers of participants the Mustangs Across America planners have decided to limit registration to 500 cars total. Also a pre-registration deadline of March 15th has been set. It is expected that the event will sell out before that time however so interested parties are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

The road trip will take a fun-filled adventure through the South West along portions of old Route 66 before heading out across the plains of Oklahoma and Texas. From there the trip takes a tour of the South through Louisiana and into Alabama. Side trips, touristy stops and events are being planned along the way to make each day one to remember.
“This year’s event will be historic if not record setting on a national level.”, says event coordinator Sam Haymart. “We are in talks with the Guinness Records organization to see if this will qualify to set an official record”. Even if that does not come to pass, it will be a record for Mustangs Across America.
With so many cars, the interstates will be lined with Mustangs for miles. Like previous Mustangs Across America drives, the last day is a traffic jam of the most tantalizing proportions. “We do our best to keep the cars together, but with so many it becomes nearly impossible. People begin to line the bridges and overpasses to get photos. It is a sight to behold”, says Haymart
Mustangs of all ages are registered to participate from the 1964 ½ classic to the newest Mustangs like the Shelby GT-500 KR. The event has attracted almost every model of the pony car that has ever been made as well as enthusiasts of all ages and walks of life.
The dates for the Mustangs Across America 45th Anniversary Drive are April 11th - 15th 009. The MCA 45h Anniversary Bash in Birmingham takes place from April 17th - 19th, 2009.
