Ford offers Mustang ringtones and graphics to rev up your cell phone.

Story by Sam Haymart

01-30-06: Are you tired of hearing everything from Beethoven's 5th to The Macarena coming from people's cell phones? The statistics say that you arent, because bajillions of Americans have been downloading musical ringtones for their phones such that the medium has become a form of marketing and advertising.

Ford has jumped into the ringtone melting pot, now offering the throaty exhaust note of the Mustang for everyone to download. Yes, you too can rev up your cell phone with a sound only a car nut could love. I can hear Bill Ford already, "If I could only have one cell phone, it would have a killer sound system and a throaty exhaust." All kidding aside, it sounds pretty good and will definitely get your attention. Another available tone is Mustang's rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner". It is cool, but not like a V8 screaming through the gears and burning rubber.

The download will be available for free at www.fordvehicles.com , along with a choice of three cool Mustang cell-phone wallpapers: the GT convertible, the GT hardtop and the running-Pony logo. You go to the Mustang page and you will see the banner at the bottom.

While our first reaction to hearing this news was, "Is that really necessary?", after hearing the sound we thought you would like to as well!
