Big gains across the board start the year off right!
02-02-10: Things are finally looking up for Ford this month having just announced they made their first annual profit in years. Moreover, the first month of 2010 has shown a staggering 24% increase in US sales over the same month in 2009. Looking through the January sales data, virtually every model in the Ford, Mercury and Lincoln lineup saw healthy increases in sales.
Ford cars were up 43 percent, crossovers were up 20 percent, sport utilities were up 8 percent, and trucks and vans were up 14 percent. Broken down to the individual brands, Ford sales were up 26 percent, Lincoln sales were up 16 percent and Mercury sales were up 6 percent.
“Ford’s focus on building products consumers want to buy and love to drive will continue,” said
Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing Sales and Service. “In 2010, we will give Ford
customers even more reasons to Drive One.”

One sign that the foundation of our economy are shoring up is that some of Ford’s largest gains were in their fleet sales to commercial, government and rental buyers. Models most sold to fleets included Ford F-Series trucks, Econoline vans, Fusion, Taurus and Escape. Also up significantly is the Crown Victoria which is headed to police departments and taxi-cab use.
