Factory Five To Debut '33 Ford Electric Roadster

American Hot Rodding Style Goes Green at SEMA 2009 as Factory Five Racing introduces an all-electric powered '33 Hot Rod… and it ain't no concept car!

Based on the award-winning Factory Five '33 Hot Rod (featured on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine, November 2009), the battery electric vehicle (EV) is powered by UQM technologies electric drive and A123 Systems high-power lithium-ion batteries. It produces 300+ HP and over 660ft/lbs of torque in a 2400lb car and delivers a range of 100+ miles and 0-60 acceleration in an estimated 4 seconds!

The vehicle was designed by Factory Five Racing using SolidWorks CAD software in partnership with HP. The electric drive system and batteries were custom installed by the team of experts at Amp=D.

This vehicle build by the Amp=D team is the subject of a television pilot by the same name, with filming to continue through the car's unveiling at SEMA and beyond.
The Factory Five '33 Hot Rod was introduced at the 2008 SEMA show, where it earned “Best in Show-Hot Rod” and “Best Engineered Product Runner-Up” Awards. The Factory Five Racing '33 Hot Rod has been featured on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine (November 2009 issue).

Factory Five Racing is located in Wareham MA, and is the world’s largest high-tech component car manufacturer. Factory Five has annual sales of $14 million dollars and has sold 165 units of the '33 Hot Rod since introduction in Nov 2008.

SolidWorks is the world’s leading 3D mechanical CAD (MCAD) software located in Concord, MA.

Amp=D is a groundbreaking solar-powered vehicle lab based in Sonoma County, California, headed by Mike North and Kyle Lawson.
A123 Systems, Inc. [NASDAQ: AONE] develops and manufactures advanced lithium ion batteries and battery systems for the transportation, electric grid services and consumer markets. Headquartered in Massachusetts and founded in 2001.

UQM Technologies is a technology leader in the development and manufacture of high-performance, power-dense and energy-efficient electric motors, generators and related power electronics.

The car will be featured in the Factory Five booth at SEMA # 22763 in front of Ford Racing in the Hot Rod and Performance Building.
