Damn, that is a lot to cram into one day. We left at 7:00 am and got back at 8:00pm. A lot of cool stuff was unveiled today including a couple of unannounced surprises. To go backwards from the latest, we just returned from a special private Shelby Automobiles reception where we saw two new vehicles they have announced. One is a SuperSnake F-150 package, the other is a post title. Shelby Turbo package for the 2005-2009 GT Mustang. We took a couple of hot laps in the new 550hp Shelby Turbo on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway road course tonight in the dark. What a hair raising trip that was. Photos and full story to follow ASAP.
Late in the afternoon we also got to see the new Saleen Performance Vehicles S-281, which doesn’t actually debut until tomorrow morning. But they had it uncovered today for a while and I have to admit they did a lot of good work on the car.
On the same wavelength, we also talked to SMS at their booth, (Steve Saleen). They just debuted their new SMS supercharger system which is actually very impressive. It uses a FEAD for the first time, has a very high tech intercooler set up, and has a dual intake runner system that actually has patents pending. Again, photos and story to follow. The supercharger system will be one of the most expensive on the market, but so was the ROUSHCharger when it was new.
Then there was the Ford booth, with all the show cars and the debut of the 2010 Mustang Cobra Jet race car and the Ford SVT F-150 Raptor 6.2 V8 with 411hp and the 500hp XT race version. There was so much eye-candy we got cavities. The show stopper at the Ford booth was the Vaughn Gittin Jr. RTR-C Mustang with a complete carbon fiber body. OMG, yes for real…..carbon fiber body. WOW stuff. Photos and stories to come.
We show another 500 photos, and about an hour of video. It might take a while to get to all of that, but new photos will be posted tonight at the very least. Oh, and we got to test drive the new 2011 Ford Fiesta too. Nice.
