2010 Mustang GT 0-60 Clarified

Hello,

I'm patiently awaiting the 2010 Pony at the my local dealership...in the mean time was hoping to get some information about 0-60 times with the various options. I have found a few references to times on a few websites but they aren't very detailed about options. Makes it hard to justify tacking on extra expenses...

And really what I'm looking for are 0-60 times given the following cases:
1) Base GT Model (Regular vs Premium Gas)
2) Base GT Model (Sport Mode Vs. Regular Mode)

What is the absolute fastest possible 0-60 configuration? I saw there is a gear change option, etc.? Also saw a track pack? Went into build wizard and couldn't even find that to read info on it :-/

ie, Premium Gas, Sport Mode, Gear Accessory = ? 0-60
Is this sort of Data available?

I can't add on after market components with my insurance :-/ Otherwise I'd just throw on a blower and be done with it lol.

I have not seen much on this. Unfortunately if you get 5 car magazines you will see 5 different 0-60 times as everyone has a different driving ability as well as different driving conditions.

I recall seeing a 4.9 second 0-60 in one of the latest Motor Trend magazines with the 3.73 rear axle Track Package. One would have to deduce the time would be slightly less with the standard axle.

The Track Pack will absolutely give you not only the best acceleration, but also suspension and chassis upgrades that improve the handling. You will also get beefier brakes, all for around $1,800. Considering you wouldn't even be able to get the brake upgrade for that money, it's a no-brainer.

The only thing to consider is the fact that you get summer only performance tires with the package, so you wouldn't want to drive the car in temps below 40 degrees or so, as the tires will get harder and perform poorly. Forget using them in the snow.

The reason you haven't been able to build it online however, is because it isn't available yet. D'oh!!! It will be available later this summer, but for the money, and the all around performance improvement, it's worth the wait. Your acceleration, handling, and braking will all improve drastically, not to mention the overall balance of the car. If you can afford to wait, I highly recommend it. If I was only gettin one option on the car that would be it.

I work at a Ford dealer, and would be glad to post here when the option becomes available.

Thanks for the input!

A few follow up questions

I don't mind waiting, was hoping to have my new car by the beginning of summer though :-(

I guess one concern is about the tires...I live in central Ohio...when it snows it snows. (Not as bad as Detroit each year at the auto show but its still pretty bad!) I had an 02 GT back in the day as my first car and I remember the tires for replacement were like $400 a piece. I don't mind getting a backup set of tires for all season...but what do you do with the summer tires during all those months? Can't be good for them just sitting in the garage half the year?

Same with the spare set come winter?

Question 2: I work and almost live in downtown...which is nothing but tight city driving...for convenience I would really prefer an automatic...*hoping* this isn't a manual only option? If it is I'm going to have to weigh out that decision a bit more than just convenience and throw in a fun factor lol.

I believe it is a manual only option.
