5.0 questions

I just read the latest news about the 2011 having a 5.0. I was just wondering if they will still make a supercharger for it that will be able to pick up the same amount of horsepower that it gave the 4.6. Also what valve will it have? (a 4v?). I guess i just dont know to much about this engine. Also are you able to use a supercharger with the shaker hood scoop or is it kinda just the same thing. Thanks for the help

There is not a lot of factual information out there right now about the architecture of the new Coyote engine. From the photos that have been seen, it appears to be a significantly different architecture than the previous mod motors. You can see it is very compact in size. It is rumored to be a 32-valve, which jives with the plug in head design.

The heads and valve covers being pretty small have led some to ask how many cams there are or where they are located. That has yet to be clarified with certainty in my view. But it does appear that the engine likely has dual over-head cams with variable cam timing.

The other piece of information that is hard to clarify is whether this engine has direct injection (DI) or not. The fuel rails do appear to be configured differently, so this could be a possibility.

As to your questions, there will surely be superchargers available at some point in the future once the engine gets out there. There will probably be a lead time however as the companies that make them will need to have time to design and engineer them.
