Header question

I'm the owner of an '89 GT. I just purchased a '79 Mustang Ghia Hatchback with a 302 and a 4-speed for $400. It was abandoned at a repair shop. It seems to have only minor problems. I was wondering if anyone here knew if the stock headers from my GT will bolt on to the '79 302. It already has a four-barrel Edelbrock carb and manifold that some previous owner put on there.

Not sure. I know the heads are different with the carbed motor. I'm not sure about the exhaust ports. You may also have clearance issues if there are differences in the sheet metal stamping in the firewall or inner fenders. You didn't say if they were shorties or long tube, but the long tubes could further cramp your clearance. I asked one of my Ford techs, and he basically said the same thing. It's kind of a crapshoot, and it looks like I'm not a ton of help. I like to try, though!
