300hp Euro Ford Focus RS Selling Like Wildfire

Hope this car comes here next year with SVT badges when we start offering the real Euro Focus in the US.......

Ford’s UK dealer network has been inundated with orders for the all-new high performance Ford Focus RS which was previewed at the British International Motor Show in London in July.

So far 1,000 customer orders have been placed. Although no details of available colours have been confirmed, around 40 per cent of the applicants requested the unique Electric Green shade of the London Show vehicle. Other popular requests were Frozen White and Electric Blue.

Roelant de Waard, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford of Britain said: “We’re delighted by the reaction of performance car enthusiasts to the new Focus RS and that so many want to place orders even though it will not be available until early next year.”

At the heart of the new Ford Focus RS is a specially developed 300hp version of Ford’s Duratec 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine.

The new model marks a welcome return for the Rallye Sport badge which has played such an important role in Ford’s rich motorsport heritage. This will be the second Focus model to carry the RS mantle since 2002 and heralds another chapter in an automotive story which began with the iconic Ford Escort RS1600 in 1970.

RS in the US

Hello everyone, my name is Serge, and I reside right here in Gilbert, AZ, otherwise I am from EU originally! Just joined and wanted to give my 5 cents worth regarding the RS! I wrote to Ford here in the US and asked if there are any at all plans to bring the Euro Focus to the US even the base version! Their sly, as always, response was that they have no clue, that all that info depends on the engineers, which we all know is not true! Can we say bean-counters!?But, I am so glad that you are bringing me breaking info and hope that the Focus RS might come to the US! That would be sweet and if it does happen my name will be 1st on the order list for the Electric Green! Oh by the way I also asked FORD, if they might consider putting this beautiful green colour on the 2010 Mustang palette! Ofcourse the response again was that they dont know! Ford had 2 cool green colours, one on the 7-UP special edition Fox Convertable, and two, the Electric Green on the New Edge from 1999-2001! I think its High Time the Mustang got a cool GREEN colour, even if it is on the Special Edition Mach1 that is planned! Ford give us Grabber Green! If Porsche can have Signal Green, why cant we have one! Well, as you can tell I am quite passionate about the Mustang, Focus, and the colour Green, even though I have a Red GT, lol! I think Ford need a bit of a variety when it comes to Mustang colour options.palettes! I remember Ford had a nice blue interior on the Fox Mustang in the '80's! Most CHP Mustangs had those! Quite stylish they were! They need to bring that back as an option just like they did with the Crimson! Thank you all for listening to my blab or blog or whatever you wanna call it! Hope some agree with me! Till next time!

Legend Lime. Dark Highland Green. Not quite as bright as the Electric Green, but the Legend Lime isn't far off... Is this Focus front or all wheel drive? It's gotta be kinda tricky putting 300hp through just the front wheels. Welcome aboard, Talamasca, and you're about to discover the vast diferences between Ford NA, and Ford EU. Supposed to be going to global architectures, but that probibly means more sacrifice on Europe's end than improvements on ours. We have NO shot at getting that engine, but fear not! We have the new line of Ecoboost engines on the way! Love the lines on that Focus, though. Any performance version of the Focus would be welcome here, though. The ST was real nice, but needed a bigger kick in the butt.
