Newbie Intro

Hello all you Mustang enthusiasts. I hope I'm posting this in the right location. I'm Mark from Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Retired Army, wife is still active duty, and proud owner of a 2008 Vista Blue GT500. My signature has all the details. Looking forward to some fun times and discussion about all things Mustang. Hope to do the Mustangs Across America cruise someday. Cheers!

Hey Mark, my name's Sean.

I used to stationed in Ft. Riley right up the street from you. It's flat. Was an Abrams turret mechanic for three fun filled years.

I'll admit I'm slightly jealous of your car. Sounds beautiful. There's a "pics of your car" thread here somewhere, would love to see it.

Anyways, welcome aboard!

BTW, Mark. I rode in a GT500 last summer that had a 4.10 rear axle upgrade. Not that the GT500 needs much more, but it definitely woke that car right up. Not too expensive either. Parts are cheap, but make sure you have a good mechanic install it. Setting the backlash can be a pain, but it's important that it's done right. If you feel like voiding your warranty, let me know. I work at a Ford dealer, and know a few cheap tricks that will get you huge horsepower gains on these cars!

Chief, I wish you were closer. I need some help with install of gears, short throw shifter, LCA's, and the Eibach coilovers.

Mark, a few of the parts you listed are available as a package through Ford Racing. The SVT drag pack ( part # M-2007-FR2SVT) includes the ring and pinion kit (3.73 axle), headers, Hurst short throw shifter, cold air intake, and computer reprogrammer. It's a good value, but I'll warn you that the headers have clearance issues on some cars. The other thing that seperates this kit from aftermarket parts is warranty coverage. As long as it's installed by a Ford dealer, it won't void your warranty. Check with your local dealer first, though as there are a couple of "gray" areas as far as warranty coverage. It's good to make sure up front, though.

If you' re not so concerned about warranty, however, there are probibly better ways to go. Feel free to ask away, and I'll try to steer you down a safe path. For the record, though, I'm not a Ford tech, but a salesman. Just a Mustang geek, and fellow gearhead.

Now let's talk about a pulley swap...

Yeah, I'm aware of the FRPP drag pack, but I already have the FRPP CAI, tune and exhaust. That's why I went with the eibach kit, plus that's what is included on the KR if I'm not mistaken. A 2.6 pulley will be my next mod after this. What do you recommend?
