Saleen Out Of Biz - Warranties Gone

From Autoweek................

Saleen Inc. has dissolved.

Last fall, Saleen Inc. was put up for sale by its majority owners, Hancock Park Associates. A company called MJ Acquisitions bought part of Saleen Inc. and still offers a full line of performance parts for a number of cars and trucks (see Untitled Document). Anything you buy from the MJ Acquisitions-owned parts of Saleen on or after Feb. 2 will be covered by a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty.

However, since Saleen Inc. has ceased operations, anything purchased before Feb. 2 will not be covered under warranty. So if you own a Saleen car or part sold before that date and something goes wrong with your car or part that is not covered under the Ford part of your warranty, then you are out of luck.

MJ Acquisitions did not purchase the Saleen S7, the planned S5 Raptor, the Saleen paint shop or ASC. Those were all owned by Saleen Inc.

In addition to being able to order parts from the Web site, you can call the MJ Acquisition-owned Saleen Speedlab at 1-800-888-8945 and hit option 2 for parts and option 4 for technical support.

So, is the S7 covered? That's a hefty price tag to have no warranty. Our other store is a Saleen dealer, and I know they have quite a few on the lot including a number of the special edition cars. It will be real interesting to see how this is handled.

I imagine there will be a class action suit coming soon, it will remain to be seen who gets sued, though...

This kind of news really twists my gut. I love Saleens, and everything they represent. It is very saddening to see all this crap happening. I remember that press release that Sam posted from Saleen, and it just seems that this new company is one rotten apple after another. I hope Steve can recover the damage to his name and continue building great cars. The new SMS products look fantastic!

Sad times when the manufacturers are struggling, and performance companies like Saleen, and Crane Cams are shutting their doors. The good news is it can only get better, right???

Right???

I don't read think so .. at least everything I've read means SALEEN will not honor warranty work but MJ will support stuff they SELL and OWN.
Sad times for our SALEEN brothers.

When you factor in the fact that Saleen cars are known for their need for warranty work this is a double whammy.
