Gas Shortage Crisis???

So what is the situation like where you are located? Here in the Charlotte area it is completely out of hand and ridiculous. Having to go to 4 or 5 gas stations to find one that has gas and when you do they are charging 4.50+ for regular and limiting to 10 gallons or $40 at some stations (which at that price is about 8 gallons).

It was so bad that we had to put 87 in the Roush yesterday and that NEVER happens...but that is all the gas station we finally found had and they charged us 4.65/gallon for it!

It seems as though they are all taking advantage of a bad situation and earning great profits at our expense! And now that everybody is buying into their theories and filling up cans and cans of gas to have on hand, we are running out!

What are your prices and how is your shortage situation?

Gas availability around here is ok. The price jumped from $3.43 on friday to $3.59 for 87 yesterday. We even got a few of IKE's heavy rain bands and gusty winds yesterday and had 4" of rain. No panic here. What I think of the rest of the energy market/prices/long term plans/supply/speculation is a whole different story...

Wow. I knew prices were bad, but didn't realise there were actual shortages. I'm in upstate NY, and we have gas at every station. Prices jumped about thirty cents, but the availabikty is fine. I wonder if you're running into some residual panicking down south from the hurricane. If everyone all gassed up last week, it could cause a shortage short term. I'm really surprised you couldn't find premium, though. You would think the demand for the pricey stuff would be less. Is your car running ok? Maybe adding some octane booster would help you short term. Good luck, and hopefully you'll be back to normal this week!

Well gas finally went down to $2.99 around here this morning. Can't remember the last time it was below $3.00, but that for Regular.

My concern isn't so much gas prices anymore but rather stock prices....

Its always something!!!

The ironic thing for me is I work in the aviation industry and we have been hammered by high jet fuel prices for the past several years, not to mention 9:11, so our companies have become more lean and productive due to nothing but survival issues and with oil falling in a slowing economy we are positioned better then anytime in our history for a economic slowdown. Thats not to say we won't get hit by these current problems but at least we are better off going in, then we ever have been.

That is good to hear. I am thrilled that diesel prices have come back down to around $3.49 as our main commuter DD car is a diesel. It got up to well over $5.00 a gallon in the summer in AZ, and on a trip to California was around $5.89. Kind of made the whole idea of having one not all that great for a while
