04-04-06: The “Inside Edition” celebrity-watch TV show reporting on Tom Cruise, who has been promoting his new movie Mission Impossible 3, let the world in on the news that Cruise just got a new Saleen S281 Extreme Mustang. Only one of 100, it was reported to cost around $80,000.
With his fiancé Katie Holmes ready to give birth to a baby at any time, he has a lot on his plate but none of it stopped him from taking a spin with Katie in his new Saleen S281 Extreme after he returned home from a trip promoting his movie.
With 500 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, Cruise should have no problem. He has been a well known car enthusiast for some time, a passion he picked up from good friend Paul Newman. He has participated in a number of automotive events like Celebrity Championship races in the past decade.
At the time of this writing it was not confirmed that his possession of the Saleen was somehow connected to his new movie Mission Impossible 3 that opens in theaters soon. Though it has been rumored that a Saleen product appears in the film.
Of course, why wouldn’t a car like the Saleen S281 Extreme appear in a high action spy movie? At the heart of the S281 E is a unique Saleen-built, high-revving, 4.6-liter engine built to handle the increased power the Series VI supercharger produces..
