06-20-06 TMN Staff: Saleen was responsible for making center exhaust on a Mustang a mainstream deal. Since we at TMN happen to own one of the Saleen center exhaust cars we can tell you that it is a pretty sweet deal. The thick tipped dual tips really give an exotic touch to the Mustang and also provide a somewhat unique sound. People take notice too. This one feature of our car is what people ask about the most.

Not everyone can have a Saleen though, but now you can add center exhaust to any 2005 and up Mustang relatively easy with the new kit available from Street Scene Equipment. The kit definitely provides the look. Using their Generation 2 rear fascia in combination with a stainless steel exhaust set up that connects just behind the axle, all you need is paint.

Street Scene first showed the center exhaust last year at SEMA and their metallic green show car has made the rounds this year on the show circuit. Just recently have the parts been made available.

The hardware includes a sparkling set of 14” long Magnaflow high performance mufflers, 2 ½” stainless steel mandrel bent tubing and some pretty nice thick exhaust tips. Mounting pegs are set in place to hang the whole thing into the factory rubber grommets too. All that is needed to get this baby in is to cut the factory exhaust above the rear axle and connect it up. You can opt to use clamps, but we always recommend a good weld job at your local muffler or tuning shop to prevent long term leaks.

The Street Scene Generation 2 body kit is one of the more integrated looking packages on the market. It is not overly done, in fact it looks almost factory. Because of this you could get away with just using the rear fascia with the center exhaust. But the purists in us suggest the complete kit to really round out the presentation.
