08-27-06 TMN Staff: The Chip Foose Edition Stallion Mustangs have one significant feature that is easily overlooked or passed over as just another modification. The signature Foose hood is styled after the 1969 Mustang with it’s raised arrow ridge down the center. Chip incorporated this classic touch that not only adds a unique flair to the car, but does it in an understated way. Nobody is going to see this as an overkill “rocket-launcher” visual element.

Styling aside, what really makes this hood unique is that it’s actually an OEM style aluminum stamping. This is no shuddering, ill fitting fiberglass piece made in somebody’s garage. Both the inner and outer panels are stamped aluminum and provide OE quality fit and finish. This is a big deal because not just anyone can muster the tooling and expertise to manufacture a stamped aluminum hood.

That expertise and ability of course resides at Classic Design Concepts (CDC), who has just released the hood for sale to the public. The only aluminum stamped hood available in the aftermarket, it’s available with or without a stamped and flanged opening for the popular CDC Shaker kit. No cutting or trim ring is required because the hood is made specifically for the product. The rolled edge provides an OEM look and fit for the scoop. They actually make a nice pair for the Mustang owner looking to upgrade to the shaker without all the cutting and fitting issues.

Going along with the OEM design and fit, the CDC Foose designed hood utilizes the factory washer nozzle locations. The hood will bolt right into place with the same mounting and attachment hardware as the Ford Mustang factory aluminum hood. This will be the first Foose Mustang accessory that will be part of a larger exclusive collection available from CDC in the near future.
